Celebrate our City: Heart of Memphis

Celebrate Memphis on Saturday, March 30th at Tiger Lane and experience what makes this city a great place to live, work and play. Engage with fellow citizens and forge new friendships as we celebrate a city of one Memphis, where together, we succeed. The entire Mid-South region is invited to participate in this free event that will show pride for a city known around the world for its music, food and innovative industries that collectively, move the world.

The Greater Memphis Chamber, Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau and the City of Memphis along with multiple civic organizations and business partners have collectively joined forces to create an event to showcase the best of Memphis with the Heart of Memphis celebration on Saturday, March 30th, 2013. Free and open to the public, the Heart of Memphis celebration at Tiger Lane will operate from 10AM to 5PM with a variety of activities including a farmer’s market, food truck rally, classic car displays and Mayor Wharton’s Easter egg roll on the Tiger Lane green.

HEART OF MEMPHIS EVENTS INCLUDE:

  • Mayor Wharton’s Easter egg roll with local kids and Memphis area sports mascots
  • Music from area artists presented by the Memphis Music Foundation & Memphis Music Comm.
  • Pop-up farmers market presented by the Memphis Farmers Market
  • Food truck rally presented by the Memphis Food Truckers Alliance
  • Multicultural & diversity awareness at the Creative Arts Building presented by Memphis United
  • Storytelling & book sale presented by Literacy Mid-South and Booksellers of Laurelwood
  • Community Extravaganza at the Kroc Center presented by the Salvation Army
  • Inflatable games presented by the Memphis Grizzlies
  • Classic car displays presented by Memphis area car clubs
  • Pastor Bryan Loritts & Rabbi Micah Greenstein deliver “Common Ground” addresses, speaking on the subjects of diversity and the celebrating Memphis with civic pride, presented by YWCA

In anticipation of the Heart of Memphis celebration at Tiger Lane, the Liberty Bowl along with the towers and fountain at Liberty Bowl Plaza will be bathed in blue and green light, official colors for the Heart of Memphis event, starting Tuesday, March 19th through Saturday, March 30th.
